Alice’s stories of Wonderland did more than raise a few eyebrows—it landed her in an asylum. Now at 15 years of age, she’s willing to do anything to leave, which includes agreeing to an experimental procedure. When Alice decides at the last minute not to go through with it, she escapes with the White Rabbit to Wonderland and trades one mad house for another: the court of the Queen of Hearts. Only this time, she is under orders to take out the Queen. When love, scandal, and intrigue begin to muddle her mission, Alice finds herself on the wrong side of the chopping block.

If I had a world of my own I would stop Alice in Wonderland retelling because very few people seem to know how to get it right.

Ramsay has written her own version of wonderland, and it is awful; the only attempt made to make the world wonderland-esque was using opposite words to add a sense of quirkiness, it got old really fast and added nothing to the story. The characters in the book were nothing like those we know and I know they don;t have to be the same as the original characters strictly but the only similarity between the characters was their names…… to an extent.

The only thing I wrote after finishing this book was ‘meh’ and that pretty much sums up the entirety of my opinions on this book, it was just a waste of my time, I gained no enjoyment nor entertainment. The storyline was messy and underdeveloped, I feel like the Prince of Hearts and Alice’s relationship should have been the main focus of this book from the very start instead of an extra bit of story tacked on to the end.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much else to say here but this book was a giant disappointment. If you want a good retelling, go to Marissa Meyer.

Sorry that there wasn’t much to this review, but there wasn’t much to this book. It honestly read like a school project where kids were told to write about Alice in Wonderland, but worse, do yourself a favour and don’t read it.
