My Top 9 Favourite Books Of 2018 So Far Because I Couldn’t Think of 10…

Hey guys! I did a poll asking what post you wanted to see,, an a top 10 came out on top (lol), and after finally deciding on the type of post, I realised I still wasn’t finished as I needed to pick out what I wanted my top 10 to be, so I looked at my shelf and said ‘hey, that’s a book, and that’s a book, and that’s a book, I’ll do a top 10 favourite books’ I KNOW, I’M A GENIUS. But then I realised it’s suuuper hard to pick 10 of all the books I’ve ever read, so I narrowed it down to the top 10 books I’ve read this year so far. So without further ado, lets get into my top 10 favourite series. (also, please don’t pay too much attention to the order of these, its hard enough picking 10, let alone putting them in order)

When I first picked this book up, I honestly thought I’d hate it, it didn’t seem like my thing and I only bought it because I saw it in Waterstones and it was pretty. But oh my God this is one of the most amazing books ever and it kind of reminded me of Big Hero 6 mashed up with that Nickelodeon movie with the gamers in it and it was brilliant and I can;t wait for my heart to be destroyed by Wildcard.

Mal and The Darkling and Nikolai, do you need more explaining?

I loved this so much that I forgot I was actually reading it while I was reading it if that makes any sense, like I read 300 pages in one sitting and I didn’t even realise how.

I don’t think I’d ever read:

  • A historical fiction before this
  • A book where the main character talks so much like me that it actually really creeped me out
  • A book that so seamlessly mixed humour and serious issues and dealt with the serious issues in a funny and light way

It was perfect.

I’d been looking forward to this book ever since I heard it was a thing, I adored Caraval so much and this book did not disappoint, the characters, the descriptions and Legend… perfection.

If you know me, you know that Three Dark Crowns is one of my favourite series of all time and these novellas were perfect and made sure I didn’t go too crazy waiting for Two Dark Reigns.

I binged this series so quickly and read the books in huuuuuuuge chunks, I loved these books and I can’t believe I’d never read them before this year because they were all brilliant and I love them.

I feel like Books where a girl has to live in a palace even though she doesn’t really want to because she has to do something she doesn’t want to do should be a genre because any book like this I have read, I have loved, including this one.

This book pleasantly surprised me, I thought Sarah J Maas had put me off of fae completely, she hadn’t, she had just put me off of her own books, but this book was brilliant and perfect and beautiful and HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL JANUARY FOR BOOK TWO?????

  1. If Shadow and Bone was a song it would go into my “forever a bop” playlist. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I haven’t read the others on your list, but I am intrigued now! Which do you suggest picking up first?

  2. It’s totally okay if you can’t find the 10th favorite – shows that you’re true to yourself when it comes to picking out books you actually like. Glad you’ve enjoyed these books! I haven’t read any of them but always love seeing what people enjoy reading. Thanks for sharing!

    1. aw thankyou so much, i didn’t just want to put in a random book as a filler so i just left it, i 100% recommend all of these if you’re looking for a new book, thanks for reading<3

  3. Hmmm I read Shadow and Bone but I wasn’t blown away by it, to be honest I prefer Six of Crows, that’s an awesome duology. If you want another fae series to try maybe try The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa I read it years ago but fell in love with the world and characters ❤ so good, I still gotta read Everless and The Cruel Prince. Along with the Gentlemans Guide to Vice and Virtue xD I own Warcross now though so I'll hopefully get round to reading that this year xD

p.s you get gold stars for picking 9 cause I love odd numbers 😉

    1. Unpopular Opinion: I think I liked S&B more than SoC 😬😬 ooh I’ll add that to my TBR, 100% read warcross but do it close to the Wildcard release date because you’ll want more the second you’re finished 😂
Also same I have a weird thing for odd number lol idk why 😂

      1. Huh interesting haha, I just couldn’t into S&B as much as I wanted to which annoyed me still, oof when does Wildcard come out? (i’m clueless with dates and release dates)

omg I love you! so many ppl find it weird I prefer odd numbers, I prefer them cause you can always find a middle one and make a nice pattern…dunno if that makes any sense xD

      2. Wildcard is 20th Sept as far as I know I’ve been waiting long enough so it better not be Oct/Nov 😩😩😩
YES!!!! most people think I sound so weird when I say that but I’ll like open/close my fingers three times and they’ll end up open and then I’ll do it again and because it’s an odd number they’ll be closed (does that make any sense?) and there’s always a middle number and it’s just cleaner to me 😂😂😂
